Yes, there are lots more choices for the best laptop for animation on the Windows platform, but there are not necessarily better computers, and the MacBook Pro is truly one of the best computers of any type available today for either 2D or 3D animation. Inspired by tv & film’s use of lighting, they mimicked film lighting techniques to go one step further with detail. Due to the ease of light being auto added to objects, the studio can create any kind of light to fit the situation. This allowed the artists to “paint with light” using 3D CGI as it tracks the characters & their movements as the video by Insider explains. The process of how the lighting stage was applied is also interesting as they partnered with another studio, Les Films du Poisson Rouge, who refined their software Houdoo & created the lighting tool “KLaS” otherwise known as “Klaus Light and Shadow”. The lighting also makes the characters seem natural in that environment as the lighting & little details adds to the tone of the scenes. The lighting is significant as it elevates the animation from an already finished looking 2D animation to a 3D-esque looking animation. Afterwards, the most crucial part of the process is applied the lighting. Klaus’s animation process is created in a program called Toon Boom Harmony where the characters are animated in 2D, then it is cleaned up & a basic layout of colour is applied. The significance of this style is that it really changes the look with each stage of the process & when it is finalised, it makes the animation look polished.

They used a mixture of 3D & 2D elements whilst keeping the overall look of a 2D painting style. The making of Klaus is what I really admire as they use techniques that I think visually looks amazing for the art direction they took.
